This coffee is produced in the Oromia region, in southern Ethiopia. The coffee is grown and processed under the Gaturiri Coffee Factory, which is vertically integrated with Primrose Service Provider, managed on the ground by Mr. Kinde Alemu. Primrose oversees the relationship with local producers, sourcing red cherry for processing at its own facilities and preparing the coffee for export.
As is typical across the Guji zone, farms here are smallholdings, averaging fewer than 5 hectares each, and coffee remains the primary economic activity for most families in the area. Alongside coffee, farmers also grow false banana (enset) and vegetables, mainly for household consumption and the local market. Farms sit within roughly an 8 km radius of the mill, and coffee is delivered by farm labourers on foot, by donkey, and by motorbike; in some cases, a dedicated team collects coffee from farmers at a nearby temporary market.
